Mattress height

We provide information on the methods for measuring the heights of mattresses, produced by "VELAM" Company.

1 Method for determination of overall (volume) mattress height

Overall (volume) mattress height (v. Fig 1) is a maximum limiting mattress height to be used for determination of optimal dimensions of space taken by the mattress while lying. Overall height is measured by outermost points of height of soft mattress element.

Fig.1 Driving dimensional measurement (volume), the height of the mattress

1.1 Lay the mattress on a plane rigid surface.
1.2 Place a ruler or a builder’s level along the length of product on the mattress surface in the geometrical center. The ruler (level) edges must project from the mattress end face.
1.3The measure of overall mattress height is determined by a distance between the lower ruler line and the table surface.
The height is to be measured by using a metallic ruler. Dimensional tolerances for overall mattress height – ±1.0 cm.

2 Method for determination of base mattress height

Base height (v. Fig 2) is a height that is equal to the side ribbon width without taking into account the edging ribbons and is determined by a distance between the stitches of edging seams.

Fig.2 Driving regulated measuring the height of the mattress

2.1 Lay the mattress on a plane rigid surface.
2.2 Measure by using a tape measure or a ruler.
2.3 Mattresses made “for edging”:
2.3.1 Place the side of tape measure on the stitch line of a edging seam on the mattress side ribbon.
2.3.2 The measure of base mattress height is determined by a distance between opposite points on the stitches of edging seams.
2.4 Non-edged mattresses:
2.4.1 The measure of base mattress height is determined by a length of the stitch of corner seam.
Dimensional tolerances for base mattress height – ±0.5 cm.
